About us

4Matrix started its life as an idea in 2002 by two school improvement advisers, based on techniques evolved from working with school leaders. We have developed these ideas further over a 6 year period through working with schools and LEAs. We are committed to the creation of tools that encourage collegiate, action-research approaches to school improvement. 4Matrix is an independently-managed school effectiveness development.

Mike Bostock is an independent ICT consultant with experience as a local authority ICT adviser and Ofsted inspection.
Mike is the author of a number of works on ICT in Education.

Acknowledgements
We acknowledge the help of many schools and individuals for their valuable feedback during the development of 4Matrix, including the 79 secondary schools and units across Essex who proved the original version during 2003 and 2004. All Essex secondary schools are currently using 4Matrix for 2007 and 2008. We have been pleased to supply 6 secondary schools that were part of the NCSL 'Within School Variation' trials, with the tools to measure WSV at pupil and group level.
