The
Action Research Toolkit* identifies a concise checklist of key factors that can form the basis for positive action-research into the comparative performance of pupils, or 'Within School Variation'.
Using tools like 4Matrix, different factors can be explored to
determine the extent to which there are 'group achievement commonalities'
i.e. groups of pupils sharing a particular contextual factor and performing in a similar manner.
Target groups of pupils can then be the subject of the development of teaching and learning
methods.
Such factors can be either school-contextual, pupil-related,
teacher-related or school-led initiatives.
Schools using the 4Matrix system receive the following services:

The 4Matrix system uses a remote data service to extract and process examination results from a school's SIMS system. It takes less than 30 minutes to create a complete set of performance reports which show the comparative achievement of every group of pupils and every teaching group.
Please note that our system is designed for secondary SIMS users.
Please contact us if you use a different MIS and wish to make use of 4Matrix.
