Data
Smart School paint their own achievement picture
"Good schools would never be surprised by their
Ofsted Report" was the consensus at the Naace 'Making
Information Work' conference held earlier this year. Data Smart schools will
not just rely on national published data, but will have their own well-developed systems for analysing and
researching subject and pupil performance.
Schools that undertake their own school-level analysis and research using school-contextual
data will provide good evidence of a Data-Confident school taking the initiative in promoting high standards. To do this schools need data tools which teachers can use to investigate their contribution to effective teaching and learning.

conference presentation on this

Key
question: If
the RAISEonline or PANDA data shows that the school
could be doing better, what alternative, independent
source of evidence will the school use to counter
this judgement? |

Answer: 4Matrix was designed to help schools to analyse performance variation in detail, and provide comparative measures of how well every group of learners achieve. 4Matrix can provide evidence of leadership quality by showing that priorities are successfully geared to tackling negative variation in pupil performance.
