We have been pleased to have supplied 4Matrix to Paddington Academy
and to have worked with the senior leaders in using the analysis
and research functions of the tool to examine pupil performance
between 2006 and 2007. The school has used 4Matrix to analyse
and report on GCSE examination results. It has also used 4MForecaster
to forecast Within School Variation patterns one year ahead of
pupils taking GCSE examinations, providing opportunities for
specific intervention.
Tom Cassidy is Vice Principal for Assessment at the Academy and
has been proactive in examining how existing school data systems
could be extended.
Tom told us :
"We
ran the 4Matrix software using the mock grades as predictors
and it was highly effective in predicting where interventions
needed to take place on a department and individual student level. 4Matrix
is a simple, easy to use and very powerful tool in identifying
Within School Variation. It is rocket fuel for the self-evaluating school.
"
Principal, Barbi Goulding said:
"4Matrix allows a school that has a higher-than-normal profile of disadvantaged students to feel confident that its efforts to raise the achievement of those students will be properly recognised in the system that judges schools. "
We aim to extend this successful formula to other schools
- please contact us if you are interested.
